2 Gold Street Will Probably Re-Open Earlier

Good news for all 2 Gold Street tenants. The management of the building has updated its schedule for the re-opening and says that the building will be ready to be re-occupied on or before February 15, 2003. That’s exactly two weeks earlier than planned, provided that the Department of Buildings gives it a green sticker.

Hurricane Sandy hit 2 Gold Street, an A-Zone building, violently. The building was severely flooded and management was not able nor allowed to open its doors to the residents. It was declared uninhabitable until March 1 because of safety and health dangers. The frustration was enormous, so the residences filed a class-action lawsuit against developer TF Cornerstone and 2 Gold. They claimed that TF Cornerstone was negligent in preparing for the storm and failed to protect the building against Sandy. Who could blame them!

This is the latest memo from the management:

We are happy to report that we have received several pieces of new equipment that are critical to the final repairs of 2 Gold Street. The building will be fully repaired sooner than anticipated. We are confident that we will receive a green sticker from the Department of Buildings, authorizing full permission to re-occupy on or before February 15, 2013. To all of our tenants, we extend our deepest thanks for your patience as we repair and improve the building, and we look forward to welcoming you home.
