Rose Associates, who is spearheading the conversion of 70 Pine Street from a once abandoned office building into luxury residential apartments, is planning to have the exclusive downtown property ready for residents by October 14th and for rentals by next summer.

The highly anticipated 1932-throwback Art Deco–style skyscraper located in the Financial District will indeed be transformed into 644 luxurious, yet-to-be priced residential units, with an additional 132 units dedicated to extended-stay occupancy.

The luxury amenities being added throughout this last year of construction on the $550 million downtown project are ongoing; these include an immense fitness center and spa, a possible members only club for residents, and a restaurant that could encompass as much as 15,500 square feet of its 35,000-square-foot lower-level retail space.

The 66-story tower seems finally to be back on track after going through so many drastic changes. The building was once the headquarters for AIG before they moved, and it subsequently changed hands several times, including one owner who even toyed with the idea of converting it into a hotel. Then it was vacant briefly before ultimately being bought by Rose.

70 Pine Street will no doubt become one of the hottest buildings to live in come summer. Smartly enough, it is being geared toward the professional crowd as Rose believes it will surely be on the radar for the financial crowd who work in the area.
