Though it’s been a while, 807 Park Avenue served as Sean P. Diddy Combs' “little” Manhattan mansion before he sold it to Aion Partners for $14 million in 2004. Diddy's initial purchase in 1999 for $12M never really suited him as he tossed it back on the market just a year later. Aion has since renovated the building in 2006, but the Landmarks Preservation Commission threw cold water on the more extensive hoped-for changes planned for the building.

The Durst Organization, the developer, apparently feels more than comfy on the block between 11th and 12th Avenues, bounded by 57th and 58th Streets. It all started with The Helena, the rental building that opened in 2005. Once upon a time, everybody wanted their high-rise living rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows that boasted jaw-dropping views as far as the eye can see. Well, those times are over. The mega-luxury towers being built today are being thrust skywards as high as the concrete and steel can carry them, so they’ve got to have more than just living-room views.
