This 9,000 square foot Greek revival townhouse has been on the market since 2010 and was home to many celebrities, including Stone and Andrew Garfield, Courtney Love, Olivier Sarkozy, and Glenn Close. It was originally listed for $19.75 million but was reduced by $1 million this summer.

New York City is naturally a hotspot for big-name film and television studios.  Google’s Youtube has announced that it is opening its fourth creative studio in Manhattan’s Flatiron District—a popular home for Tech Start-ups. Compared to the 41,000 square foot creative studio in Los Angeles, the New York City studio will only about half the space: 20,000 to 25,000 square feet.

Actor, director, and writer Matthew Modine and his wife Caridad have sold their apartment inside Loft 25 at 420 West 25th Street for $2.1 million. Modine, best known for his role as Private Joker in “Full Metal Jacket,” paid $1.73 million for the apartment five years ago—so he’s making a nice profit of $430K. Regardless of the win, it was still sold under ask, which was initially $2.29M last October; it then dropped to $2.175M in December, 2012.

City Council Gives Green Light for Pier 57

The city council has unanimously approved a proposal by Young Woo & Associates (YWA) for the redevelopment of Pier 57. The special zoning permit gives them the green light to construct a 170,000 square-foot marketplace made from converted shipping containers called incuboxes. The incuboxes, which measure 160 square feet, are intended to be rented out to retailers for roughly $3,000 a month. Larger spaces ranging from 3,000 to 20,000 square feet will also be up for rent. While leasing for the spaces will begin this fall, applications can be sent in now.

Major New York-based real estate owner and developer Alchemy Properties has finally unveiled the rendering design of 35XV, located (as the name would suggest) at 35 West 15th Street in the Flatiron District. The project, which was announced in 2008, hasn’t had an easy history. Neighbors, especially from the nearby condo building at 16 West 16th Street, have complained about the plan. Things calmed down, however, and the good news is that Alchemy is proceeding.

We reported yesterday that Kate Winslet received an apartment deeded from her ex-husband Sam Mendes. Now we have learned that Kate doesn’t plan to stay there. The apartment, which is a penthouse duplex, is listed for rent at $30,000-a-month. It has 3,300 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and an additional 1,700-square-foot roof terrace. It’s the first time ever that the unit has been on the market for rent.

A celebrity divorce provides us with some interesting NYC real estate news. Kate Winslet and director Sam Mendes divorced in 2010, but had a shared apartment in Chelsea, which the couple bought in 2003. According to City Records Sam Mendes has deeded the $2.15M condominium to his ex-wife. The gorgeous boutique building with only 12 units is located at 532 West 22nd directly below the High-Line park.

Kate Winslet continues to live in the apartment, but Sam Mendes has been in England since the two split in 2010.
