Tom Cruise, the handsome, ever talented, and elusive, super-star of many top films feels he needs a little more privacy, so he has sold his loft-style condo in NYC to go somewhere quieter. No doubt to get away from all his fans and the paparazzi. He likes his seclusion. Some say he'll move to Westchester or Connecticut. Mercifully, he won’t go into “Oblivion” as in the title of his upcoming new film due out this spring.

Tatum O’Neal, who in 1974 became the youngest person to ever receive a highly coveted Academy Award for her role in “Paper Moon”, has finally sold her apartment near Chinatown. 

Miss O’Neal while trying to sell, had previously offered it as a rental at a price ranging from $6,000 to $7,000. However, there were no takers, perhaps, because of the notoriety caused by her unfortunate arrest. Sincerely hope she has overcome. 

Carly Simon, the highly talented Singer and Songwriter perhaps best known for her early ‘70’s hit “You’re So Vain” has relisted her lovely West Village duplex at 46 Commerce Street. She had listed it for anywhere from around $2.5 to $3.8 million, but so far it hasn’t sold. But she’s not one to give up.

The pad is described as “having love-rekindling powers” by those in the know. MMMMMMMM..just in time for Valentine’s Day!

The British musician and co-founder of the legendary group Genesis, has listed his Noho condo loft at 1 Bond Street for $7.995 million. The rock star bought the place roughly four years ago for $5.03 million. Three million dollars more might sound a little MUCH, but Mike invested lots of money and time renovating the place. In this case it’s a complete overhaul. Night and day could not be more different!

“Rainman” director and Oscar-winning filmmaker Barry Levinson, who is currently filming his new horror flick “The Bay”, which sees a bucolic Chesapeake Bay town overrun by a breed of pollution-mutated parasites, has purchased a three-bedroom Soho loft at 104 Wooster Street for $5.65 million.

Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams has bought a $15.8 million Tribeca apartment inside the Merchants House at 35 North Moore Street. Deron also made quite a good deal as the apartment was listed for $1.1 million more. Enough bucks to get a nice renovation/personalization done, even though the apartment already looks nice with its minimalistic, white design.

Ethan Coen , the extremely talented film director, screenwriter, editor, cinematographer and producer, of the Coen Brothers has listed his Greenwich Village co-op at 30 East 10th Street for $2.34 million. The one-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment has 1,800 square feet and was purchased by Ethan and his beautiful wife, Tricia Cooke, in 2004 for $1.495 million. The second-floor apartment has a very large living room with a nice open kitchen.

The German fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld has finally sold his co-op at 50 Gramercy Park North for $4.5 million. The super, white-themed, luxury apartment had been on the market for 9 months and went temporarily off the market in December. It must have stung Karl to give the apartment away for a whopping $2.25 million less than he paid for it in 2006. The reason for the poor interest in the apartment is probably the high maintenance costs.

Good news for all 2 Gold Street tenants. The management of the building has updated its schedule for the re-opening and says that the building will be ready to be re-occupied on or before February 15, 2003. That’s exactly two weeks earlier than planned, provided that the Department of Buildings gives it a green sticker.

A few months ago we reported on Alicia Keys’ purchase of her new mansion in New Jersey. She bought the home from Eddie Murphy for $12 million although he had originally asked for $30 million. What a deal for her!

Alicia Keys, the ever beautiful singer, actress and entertainer tried to get a similar great deal on her NYC home. She paid $12.75 million for the apartment in 2010 and has tried to sell it just two years later without any noteworthy renovations for $17.95.

Judith Sheindlin, who is by profession a lawyer, judge, television personality and arbitrator, better known as Judge Judy from her very successful reality show “Judge Judy”, has listed her luxury pied-a-terre at the Sherry Netherland for $9 million. Mrs. Sheindlin purchased the apartment with her husband back in 2010 for $6.75 million. She used it only occasionally as she’s got another home in Connecticut and a luxury home in Florida for the cold winter months. Lucky lady!

Former couple, David Duchovny and Tea Leoni, have listed their luxury co-op at 170 East 78th Street for $9.25 million. David and Tea bought the apartment in 2008 for $6.25 million but split just three years later.

City Spire has made some buzz with its latest $100 million penthouse and simultaneously endured some criticism for being overpriced and a matter of taste.

350 West Broadway has finally sold its penthouse for a strongly chopped price of $17.5 million. The building built in 2008 initially offered the apartment for $26 million. A price drop followed in 2012 to $20.65 million. The developer, Aby Rosen, had to accept a further price crunch and accepted a deal for $17.5 million. Mr. Rosen has built a reputation as a savvy deal maker with a taste for important real estate.

The building at 380 Columbus Ave, which was built in 1900, has been traded for $50 million. The new owner, Newcastle Realty Services, which owns properties throughout the five boroughs, purchased the 70,000-square-foot Upper West Side residential property on December 28. The seller was Joben Realty Associates.
